Group level competition
Well, the idea of a group constructed level has been a success and has produced, so far, one good level.  I have an idea...

Different groups of people can present their levels to me, and I will judge the winner.  The score will be based on

Is there a puzzle? - 20 points
0 = No puzzle whatsoever OR impossible!
20 = Hard to solve

How fun is the level? - 10 points
0 = I would rather sort out ten thousand red grains of sand from ten thousand yellow ones than play this level!!!
10 = THIS LEVEL IS AWESOME.

Group aspects -

Does everything mesh well?
0 = Nothing goes together (title doesn't go with level, terrain is obviously made by different people and is shoddy because of that, etc.)
10 = Everything goes together great!

um, other rules.

Groups can be of up to three people.  You decide within your own group what the rules are for each person and what is assigned to each person.

No looking at other people's levels until the competition is over, or unless the group making the level allows you to look.

There will be two separate competitions, a lemedit competition and a cheapo competition.  Seeing as to how there are custom graphics in lemedit now though, it might not really matter.

Deadline is....uhhhhh...10/00/2005

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.......

Re: Group level competition
So you have to create your own levels and e-mail them to you?

Re: Group level competition
Basically, only you need your group to create levels, you can't have a level made by yourself only.

Re: Group level competition
But I don't have a group to help me make levels.

Me,TW,Conway,Timballisto and Shvegait are already making a level and TW issued a download of it.

How will you decide whether or not a complicated level is impossible?

You know, that's not the point of group levels as I see it.  The other people don't exactly "help you make levels".  That's like saying in a soccer team your teammates are there to help you win the game.  That sort of mentality is completely opposite the spirit of what "team" means.

Well, one sure way to deal with this is to ask the group who designed the level for a solution.  If they can't come up with one that works, and neither can the judge, then I think it's fair to judge the level impossible.

I was meaning I had nobody to make levels with.

There's no "I" in "team", but if you look closely, there is a "me".
Sorry, I just had to say that

I'm willing to start a small group for this comp. Anybody interested.

Re: Group level competition
I'm not sure what you guys have it as, so I'll tell you what it is where I live.

month/day/year

Why?  I have no clue.

EDIT: shortly after making this post I realized that a day 0 does not exist either.  Okay then, deadline is 12:00:30 AM 10/1/2005.

If you're about a half hour late, or if you turn in your entry before I have finished judging, you'll be alright.

Re: Group level competition
To make dates more internationally friendly it's best to specify dates with a text month. eg Oct 00, 2005

In any case, I'm not aware that any month starts on day 0 any way. *inserts another infamous :P*

I thought only the Americans use that format.  And I thought you were European.  Oh well.

Time zone?  Though I guess it doesn't matter too badly since you said you'd be somewhat lenient.

Actually I live in America but I guess you figured that out already.

I don't think they have any "Ohio"s in Europe, do they? :P (referring to his Location in his profile.)

Ohio was an American Indian name if I'm not mistaken.

LOL, well, now you know I haven't been fully utilizing all the members-only features of the forums yet, despite registering recently.  ;P

You know, now that I think of it, I might have been confusing Andi and Timballisto.  No idea why.
