Sarendt | 06 Mar 2005 19:39:31 Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmingsI tried Lemmings - think it was a tutorial and killed 99% of the lemmings!!!!!!! After that, I just couldn't do it anymore! How do you deal with killing off cute, innocent lemmings - especially the ones you have to blow up just to get through a wall or something? I feel sorry for them! I dug a hole and they all fell through - it's a terrible memory. I'm sure I'm scarred for life. Anyway, maybe a little practice would help! |

Andi | 06 Mar 2005 19:54:35 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiHey, calm down! They are only bits and Bytes! If I would be sad for everything I killed in videogames I'd may be never happy. |
DragonsLover | 07 Mar 2005 06:04:11 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute Lemmi:???: Huh.... how old are you? Come on! Lemmings are only videogames characters, they aren't dead for real (WHAT? REALLY? Who didn't know that?). Just restart the level and it's like you come back in time without killing any. Well, you must sacrifice lemmings in some levels. I guess you'll not like the level: Cascade. |
guest | 07 Mar 2005 06:53:27 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiI was going to say something which I guess would perpetuate a stereotype regarding gender and video games... ...but in place of that, let me point out that if I recall correctly, in highly social animals like bees and ants, sometimes individual members of the colony may commit altruistic acts sacrificing themselves for the good of the colony. So the next time the game forces you to blow up one or more lemmings, just think instead that the lemming you blow up is willingly sacrificing itself for the good of the rest. As for lemmings lost due to careless clicking, well, just imagine that the lemmings are reincarnated from game to game, so they never "truly" die. ;) Hopefully before long you'll get very very use to them dy---, I mean reincarnating. |
Ahribar | 07 Mar 2005 11:22:12 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiI guess you'll not like the level: Cascade. Agh, don't remind me! That one still gives me nightmares........ |
Timballisto | 07 Mar 2005 11:50:25 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiIs it possible to save 100% on that level? |
Conway | 07 Mar 2005 15:06:16 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiI've read it's possible to save 100%, but the most I've ever managed is 92%, I think. Anyway, Sarendt, chill out! There are games out there thirty times more violent than Lemmings. Rather than think that you're killing the ones that 'die', remind yourself that you're saving those that 'survive', who would have 'died' without your help. Welcome to the site! I hope you'll stick with it. |
DragonsLover | 08 Mar 2005 04:14:56 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiThat way, if Cascade is a nightmare, you'll not like my level: "More cascade!". I won't say much! ;P |
Shvegait | 08 Mar 2005 06:22:09 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiReally? Cascade was one of my favorite levels simply because you have to kill so many (the easier way to beat it, anyway). :D |
Timballisto | 09 Mar 2005 20:15:42 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiWhat's the best fireworks display you've seen? |
?QuErY? | 09 Mar 2005 20:43:04 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiI know what you're thinking, timballisto... |
Conway | 09 Mar 2005 23:50:36 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiI don't . . . :???: |
Shvegait | 10 Mar 2005 00:08:13 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiARMAGEDDON!!! B) |
Conway | 10 Mar 2005 01:21:44 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiOh yeah! Duh! :P |
?QuErY? | 10 Mar 2005 18:47:52 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiYup. I knew it... ;) |
Sarendt | 03 Apr 2005 03:02:14 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiThanks for the help with my anguish!!! I will just think of them as moving on to another game instead of "dying". Maybe they are just reincarnated to be used again! Sorry so long in replying. Have been away! Maybe the makers of really violent games make everything scarry-looking instead of cute and harmess-looking so you won't feel bad about killing them! Maybe if they said "GRRRRR" instead of "oh-no!" before they blow up it would help... The look on their faces is so INNOCENT!! |
DragonsLover | 03 Apr 2005 06:43:10 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiLol! Lemmings are cute, :agree: But this isn't a violent game much. Look, in Lemmings 3D, there's a cheat where you cursor is changed into a crosshair. When you clicked on a lemming, it died =8O. BUT, when any lemming died this way, it counted as saved like if it entered into the exit! So, I don't think we could say that Lemmings games are violent with "gore" effects! Come on! :disagree: |
Sarendt | 03 Apr 2005 15:17:30 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiOK, so maybe just one tutorial isn't enough. I think I just felt bad because I was SOOOO bad at the game that everyone died but ONE lucky lemming. Maybe I should play more and get better.... sorry to the sacrificial lemmings that will go "poof" |
Andi | 03 Apr 2005 17:06:12 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiLook, in Lemmings 3D, there's a cheat where you cursor is changed into a crosshair. It doesn't count as saved, it counts as "slaughtered Lemmings". But if you have enough you still can access the next level. |
DragonsLover | 04 Apr 2005 12:06:02 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiOk... I didn't know. I didn't try this cheat code. |
Meggy | 10 Apr 2005 10:28:51 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiI :agree: With DragonLover because The Lemmings Are sooo Cute & cuddly...But I just got one Question....Doe Anyone remember Lomax from the Adventures of Lomax? |
Conway | 10 Apr 2005 15:57:38 Re: Cognitive Dissonance Due to Killing Cute LemmiYeah, he was cute too. |
