Conway | 13 Jan 2005 00:11:57 Screen resolutionsJust out of pure boredom and curiosity, what screen resolution are you using? Also, what colour depth and refresh rate? I'm currently at 1152x864, 32 bit, 78 hz, and using a 17" CRT monitor. |

There are a number of reasons higher resolution is better, but beyond a certain point the main reason I'd say is not so much sharpness as it is the ability to get more out of the screen estate on bigger monitors. |
Conway | 13 Jan 2005 11:23:40 Re: Screen resolutionsWhat size and type of monitor do you have, Dumb Lem? And how old is it? |

Conway | 13 Jan 2005 12:41:42 Re: Screen resolutionsI wish I could vote twice, because I'm now on a laptop at 1280x800, 32bit, 60hz TFT. |
Andi | 13 Jan 2005 17:08:21 Re: Screen resolutionsAll I can do is removing your vote. |
Lemka | 13 Jan 2005 18:04:38 Re: Screen resolutions1024x768. It shall go no higher. Well, it would if it could... 32 bit. And... it's old. I don't really remember anything about it. It would appear to be roughly 14 inches. The actual screen, that is. Other than that? No idea, really... much as I may and do hate to admit it. |
Conway | 13 Jan 2005 18:27:53 Re: Screen resolutionsAll I can do is removing your vote. Don't worry. I was using that monitor at that resolution when I voted, so it stays. |

I haven't gotten another monitor in several years. (i think 3 years) even that one wasn't new, it was still old but on the other one you couldn't even see the stupid stuff on the screen when it was on max brightness. X_X |
DragonsLover | 17 Jan 2005 17:58:52 Re: Screen resolutionsA long time ago, we used 800x600x32. Today, it's 1024x768x32. |
dumb_lem | 22 Jan 2005 16:30:52 Re: Screen resolutionsWhat size and type of monitor do you have, Dumb Lem? And how old is it? My monitor is almost ancient and i don't know what size. i predict 12 inches by eleven inches. i'm probably a fair amount off though. I've gotten new monitors before and i always keep it on 800 by 600. I can't stand 100o something by1200 something because everything's too small and the other way, everything is gigantic. |
Mike | 23 Jan 2005 21:31:47 Re: Screen resolutionsDual 12ms 19" TFT's 1280x1024, 32bit 60Hz... Tried 1600x1200... text is just too small... :) |
Timballisto | 24 Jan 2005 16:39:01 Re: Screen resolutionsI think everyone should use a 1x1x2 screen. Yeah, that would be really cool! But for now I'm stuck with something a lot bigger 1,280x1,024x32. |
Isu | 28 Apr 2005 15:33:55 Re: Screen resolutions1x1x2? Yeah right! I used to have 640x480x16 when I had my old 686. When I got my new PC with a 14 inch screen it was 800x600x32 Now I've upgraded to a 17 inch screen I use 1024x768x32. *Checks 1024x768 in poll* |
Conway | 28 Apr 2005 15:44:34 Re: Screen resolutions1x1x2? You mean a light bulb? |
Timballisto | 28 Apr 2005 16:49:23 Re: Screen resolutionsLol...might as well be a light bulb. |
Conway | 28 Apr 2005 16:55:54 Re: Screen resolutionsOr why not 1x1x1, and you can call any object a screen?! |
Timballisto | 28 Apr 2005 16:58:38 Re: Screen resolutionsHm...yeah I can imagine that: Ha! I am now sitting in front of my new computer: 200 GB hard drive, 20 GB RAM, dvd drive, a drive, cd drive, zip disk drive, 6 usb ports, 3 printer ports...and...a 30"..........piece, of, WOOD. great. >:( |
Conway | 28 Apr 2005 17:01:57 Re: Screen resolutionsLOL! X_X ps, you are kidding, aren't you? Not about the wood, but 20GB RAM? O_o |
Timballisto | 28 Apr 2005 18:40:03 Re: Screen resolutionsIf I had such a computer with the exception of the wooden block for a monitor I think I would die of amazement...especially if I had 20 gigs of ram! I hear there are one gig ram sticks for sale though, so as fast as things are progressing, that doesn't sound that far away does it? Of ocurse by the time we have 20 gigs ram everything will require 20 gigs ram...figures XP |
